Ngaio Repair Café

Ngaio Repair Café, organised in and by Ngaio Union Church, is part of the worldwide Repair Café movement to cut down waste and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our local volunteer repairers will look at and try to fix all sorts of clean household gear: wooden, metal, electrical, electronic, pottery, computer, fabric, toys, clothing, beads, cardboard – as long as it’s small enough for you to bring. One of our volunteers is a guitar repairer who can mend and tune any fretted instruments. Two others will sharpen knives and tools. While you wait to have your item looked at, tea and coffee and cold drink are provided. Children with care-givers are welcome. We have some basic materials on site but if your broken thing needs specific parts (e.g. zip, plug) please bring those along. It’s all free but a gold coin koha is appreciated to help local community need. We open each third Saturday of the month 10 am to 1pm (no new items after 12.30) beginning March and finishing November.
