Following our Make it our Right to Repair petition delivery to Environment Minister Parker on 7 July 2022, the petition was presented to the House of Representatives on 20 July 2022 and referred to the Petitions Committee. Subsequently, RCANZ was invited to provide a written submission to help its consideration of our petition.

Our Right to Repair submission has been received by the Petition Office, and we will learn about the next steps in due course. We requested to be considered for an oral submission, which would be supported by members of the Right to Repair Coalition Aotearoa, we formed in late July 2022.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We will update you when there is more information available.

In 2021, Repair Café Aotearoa NZ submitted on the Ministry for the Environment’s consultation: "Te kawe i te haepapa para | Taking responsibility for our waste". We proposed the inclusion of Right to Repair measures in the updated Waste Minimisation Act. Read our submission letter here.
