Following our Make it our Right to Repair petition delivery to Environment Minister Parker on 7 July 2022, the petition was presented to the House of Representatives on 20 July 2022 and referred to the Petitions Committee. Subsequently, RCANZ was invited to provide a written submission to help its consideration of our petition.

Our Right to Repair submission was presented at the oral submission to the Select Committee with supporting submissions from WasteMINZ, Zero Waste Network, Ministry for the Environment and the Delegation of the European Union to New Zealand. (Reference: Parliament webpage)

In 2021, Repair Café Aotearoa NZ submitted on the Ministry for the Environment’s consultation: "Te kawe i te haepapa para | Taking responsibility for our waste". We proposed the inclusion of Right to Repair measures in the updated Waste Minimisation Act. Read our submission letter here.
