Otaki Repair Café

Fixing Items. Bonding People.

Energise Ōtaki started the Repair Café to reverse the now ingrained habit to throw away vast amounts of things with almost nothing wrong, which could get a new lease on life after a simple repair or helping hand. We encourage people to meet with others who love tinkering and have the practical skills and know-how to fix something and teach some skills along the way, so people can try to do it themselves next time something needs fixing. This saves not only money and resources, but above all our Repair Café wants to show how much fun repairing things can be and how easy it often is.

We can help with toasters and vacuum cleaners, sewing machines, blunt knifes and tools, holes in garments or missing buttons, broken but loved fashion jewellery, bikes which need a tune up or fixing the brakes, small furniture, toys, mechanical repairs, and many more things which are broken or not working as they should.

Nothing to repair? Come along and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee & cake (supporting a fundraiser for another community group), learn something new, lend a hand with someone else’s repair job or browse the Swapping Table.

Small Town, Big Heart – Ōtaki's Manaakitanga at its best.
